Renowned R&B flautist Jef Kearns is on the verge of dropping an absolute musical bombshell with his album Deep Cover 1970s. Picture this: A soulful expedition through the timeless hits of the ’70s, blended seamlessly with a modern groove. And Kearns, with his exceptional flute skills, breathing new life into these classics, adding hooks, melodies, and an instantly identifiable flavor that is uniquely his.
For the project, Jef enlisted longtime collaborator and producer extraordinaire Douglas Romanow, whose expertise delivers a sonic journey like no other. Music mastering magician, Randy Merrill (known for his work with Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars) adds that final touch of perfection.
Jef reveals “Deep Cover 1970s is my proudest moment and most cohesive sounding project to date. Working alongside producer, Douglas Romanow, our goal was to modernize and revitalize these 1970s classics in a creative yet highly respectful way.
The project also allowed me to spotlight some of Toronto’s top female vocalists alongside my signature flute sound. I am thrilled to present these songs and artists for current and future generations to discover.”
Deep Cover 1970s isn’t merely an album; it embodies a musical evolution – a fusion of the past and present that strays far from the expected “cover song” treatment. It’s an auditory experience that is absolutely sensational. Consider this your personal invitation to experience it on all major platforms on March 22nd, 2024.
