There’s a new album release this Fall that’s the first ever Buddy Miles Tribute album!  There’s no other Tribute project out there paying homage to this teenage prodigy and incredibly gifted composer, drummer, guitarist, vocalist and producer. And who better than Biscuit Rouse who’s a drummer, vocalist, and producer himself!  It’s in his DNA!

The debut album is called ‘Biscuit and Buddy’ which drops on September 27th. 

The musicianship is Other notables on the project are Vernon Reid on guitar and Doug Wimbish on bass from Living Colour.  The album is mixed by Andre Betts. 

The first single /video out now is Buddy’s most iconic song “Them Changes”.  

James “Biscuit” Rouse is a Philadelphia native.   He’s no stranger to the spotlight, having been the former drummer for luminaries like Ms. Lauryn Hill, Sylena Johnson, Vivian Green, and currently the drummer for Gerald Veasley, Screaming Headless Torsos, and Vernon Reid’s Band of Gypsys Revisited.  He’s also toured with the band, Living Colour.  

Biscuit is part of Jerry Wonder and Arden Altino’s production team which includes ’The Other Side of Newark’ project as well as writing and producing for Kenny Bobien, Elijah Blake, George Burton and his wife Charisa the Violin Diva, whose Biscuit produced song “Bethlehem” was featured in the 2022 BET Film “Miracle Before Christmas”.

The album will be released worldwide by German Funk/Jazz label Leopard Records.  It features songs that are Buddy’s classics such as “Life is What You Make It” and the Neil Young penned song “Down by the River” ‘which Buddy made popular.    There are 11 tracks on the album. 

Biscuit chose to make this project because George ‘Buddy’ Miles has inspired him as a musician.  ‘Buddy’ is the blueprint for what Biscuit is as a musician.and musical director.  He also wrote originals on the album in addition to “GI Gina” which include “Shine” and “Enough Is Enough”.  Biscuit wrote and arranged these originals honoring the genre busting style and spirit of Buddy Miles. 

Biscuit’s been building up his solo career with a Residency in NYC at the iconic Bitter End in the W.Village.
