Nubya Garcia ‘Fortify’ – LISTEN

Saxophonist and composer Nubya Garcia has released her newest single, “Fortify.” On the track, Garcia’s languid, sweeping saxophone melody floats above syncopated rhythms, punctuated by shimmering piano and keyboard accents provided by the members of her acclaimed quartet: Daniel Casimir (double bass), Deschanel Gordon (organ, piano, Rhodes, Nord), and Sam Jones (drums). Garcia has emerged as one of the leading lights of London’s burgeoning jazz scene as a bandleader, composer, and solo recording artist. Her work has been celebrated in the pages of The New York Times, Mojo, DownBeat, Rolling Stone, Ebony, and Vogue, and by Pitchfork and NPR Music. Garcia’s compositions have also been heard on television programs including Ted Lasso and Atlanta as well as Epic Games’ global phenomenon Fortnite.
