‘British Jazz Awards’ alumni Anita Wardell takes to The Blue Arrow stage on Sunday 19 June with her Trio featuring Scottish musicians Malcolm MacFarlane and David Bowden. Anita is regarded as an outstanding scat singer, and she is also recognised as a skilled writer and performer of vocalese.
Performing music from their brand new album ‘Modern Traditions’, Brian Molley Quartet bring their own exhilarating blend of jazz and world music as reflected by their wide and varied travels back to The Blue Arrow on Friday 17 June.
Nimbus Sextet celebrate the release of their second Acid Jazz album ‘Forward Thinker’ with a special hometown launch show at The Blue Arrow on Friday 17 June. One of the most innovative bands in the new wave of UK jazz, the contemporary jazz outfit fuses their jazz, world, hip-hop and funk influences uniquely into a strong melodic blend.
Saxophonist Matt Carmichael is a product of Glasgow’s thriving jazz scene. A BBC Young Jazz Musician 2020 finalist, Matt released his debut album ‘Where Will The River Flow’ to critical acclaim last year including a place on the long-list for the Scottish Album of the Year Award. Catch him at The Blue Arrow on Saturday 18 June.
‘With Love, from Glasgow’ is a festival within a festival, curated by DJ Rebecca Vasmant. Featuring live sets from Paix, Azamiah, Blue Boar Brass and Mama Terra, plus Era Suite’s Kalakuta Show (Fela Kuti Tribute) and DJ sets from Nick Peacock, ButhoTheWarrior and Rebecca Vasmant. The all-day event kicks off at 3pm on Sunday 19 June at Oran Mor and is the perfect way to spend the final day soaking up the sounds at Glasgow Jazz Festival.
