Germana Stella La Sorsa will release the official premier animated video of ‘In Time and (S)Pace’ on YouTube on Friday the 17th of June (link at the bottom of this page). Following this, she will also release, in July, a live studio video of a “stripped” arrangement – for voice and guitar only – of the same tune with the incredible guitarist Tom Ollendorff.
‘In Time and (S)Pace’ is the fifth track from the critically well-received album Vapour, which has been described as:
… a beautifully inventive and explorative work. Germana’s light and graceful vocals weaving in and out throughout as she skillfully interacts with the musicians.
Mala Waldron
Her latest album ‘Vapour’ is very heartfelt, warm and delivers. This album definitely takes you on a journey propelled by the great musicianship from the rest of her ensemble.
Tony Kofi
… a thoughtful, original and very musically satisfying album.

The album digitally released in December 2021 on 33Jazz Records and was presented with two sold out album launch shows at The Vortex Jazz Club (this time with Tom Ollendorff on guitar). The music of Vapour is set out to break down both aesthetic and musical jazz conventions in a melting pot of styles, crossing the boundaries of genre but steeped in modern sounds with a nod to the avant-garde. The album can be downloaded from Bandcamp and streamed via various platforms.
In its style and conception, the music is very eclectic, crossing the boundaries of genre but steeped in modern sounds with a nod to the avant-garde. Recorded with a Hammond Trio, Germana has channeled a wide range of influences into a contemporary jazz album that includes the music of Frank Zappa and Hermeto Pascoal. The tunes are full of heavy grooves and rich in electrifying moments with captivating melodies enhanced by Germana’s distinctive instrumental use of her voice, coloured with effects and harmonies.
Germana entered the studio together with long time collaborator Sam Leak on Hammond organ and heavy weight stalwarts of the London jazz scene Nick Costley-White on guitar and Jay Davis on drums. Together they have created a modern, open and sophisticated album, fully tuned in to the current wave of contemporary UK jazz.
