When it appears that so much is shutting down it is very welcome news to hear that a new Jazz Club has opened up. Westcliff-on-Sea is where The Prima Jazz Club can, and should be found.

I visited the club Saturday, 8 February, for their inaugural event featuring Marco Marconi and Mark Wade (read my review here). The club is housed at one end of the Genting Casino below ground and is very much in the style of how I imagine a London Jazz Club to be.
The walls are lined with pictures of musicians, the decor is very clean and the layout of the seating area uncluttered – small round tables waited on by very attentive but not pushy staff. Nothing appeared to be hurried, which made for a very comfortable, relaxed atmosphere.
The bookings for the club will be run by Annie’s Jazz and Darren at Jazz Matters (who I got to meet during the interval and who is clearly very excited about the project) and look to be hosting one event each month. The first event was a great success and I look forward to returning to the club at some point in the future.
